TNSWAVES

TNSWAVES

In November 2021, I created a YouTube channel called ‘tnswaves’. I began doing a quiz called ‘Who Said It’, which was based off of the TV dance show The Next Step. I had guests from the show such as, Milaina Chanel, Dani Verayo, Isaiah Peck and Kelly Fanson. This quiz show was the start of a YouTube journey which I am so grateful for.

After the first season of my quiz (I’d later make a second season), I began to do interviews with actors, dancers, singers and performers from around the world. The first person I interviewed was Amy Wright, who is the Casting Director and Choreographer on The Next Step. I will be forever grateful to Amy, as she taught me many skills which I will always take with me. I began to interview a range of people from The Next Step, Waterloo Road, West End productions, CBBC shows, tours, reality shows and more. Conducting these interviews unlocked a new interest for me. I realised I loved hearing people’s stories and giving people the opportunity to talk. Little did I know then that this interest would form my future career. I filmed over 100 interviews over the space of 2 years and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I met so many incredible people who have shared their stories and advice with me. The biggest thing I learnt whilst doing these interviews was to be confident and to trust yourself. After every interview I felt more experienced, which lead me to feel more comfortable in preparing and filming the videos. This ‘era’ of my YouTube channel was one of my favourites, and I will always be grateful to every single person who appeared on my channel.

On 11th April 2022, CBBC announced that season 8 of The Next Step was on its way. This news was extremely exciting and I wanted to create a video to celebrate it. The majority of my subscribers knew me because I’d interviewed stars from The Next Step, so it only felt right to create content for the show’s latest news. I began with theory videos and trailer reactions which allowed my channel to gain more interest from the TNS (The Next Step) fanbase. Once the episodes aired, I filmed weekly reviews and reactions to the episodes. These videos had high viewing figures as people were interested in what I was saying. I continued to make these videos until the end of season 8.

In 2023, I continued to conduct interviews and create content about The Next Step. In March 2023, it was the 10 year anniversary of The Next Step being aired in Canada, so I decided to create a couple videos to celebrate that. I also interviewed some candidates off The BBC’s ‘Apprentice’ and ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. As well as that, I created some documentaries, which I found very new and exciting. I filmed a video for the coronation of King Charles III as I was in London for the event. It was fantastic to document my time at such a historic day and to create a video that so many people found interesting. Filming in public can be very nerve racking and scary, however the more times I did it, the more confident I felt. I decided to create another documentary in June to mark King Charles’ first Trooping The Colour. One of my favourite parts of creating this video was filming in front of Buckingham Palace. It felt so surreal and I am glad I took the opportunity to do it.

As 2024 continues, I am looking forward to creating more content for my YouTube. With season 9 of The Next Step airing in April, I am going to be creating some more TNS videos very soon.

Thank you so much for supporting my website and my YouTube, it means so much. I hope you have enjoyed finding out about my channel and how it all began.

Best Wishes,

Charlie x
